Matsuri Festival Globe

A rare festival lantern from Kyoto’s Gion Matsuri celebrations. The bold red body with cream calligraphy panels was designed to be visible through summer festival crowds. This style was produced in limited quantities by a single workshop in Higashiyama that closed in 1982.
